Devon Third Team Promoted
DEVON PLAYERS HAVE REASON TO SMILE...
Devon players have taken a step up in the county badminton world.
Gina Sawyer - (team captain) - and team mates in the Devon 3rd team, topped Division 5 of the Inter County League's southern sector.
The squad beat Cornwall, Somerset and the Isle of Wight home and away and won at Oxford, with their only defeat coming in the return match.
The title, though, hinged on their final match of the campaign.
They needed to take maximum points against Somerset and relied on Isle of Wight taking a point off Oxford, which would put Devon at the top spot by one point.
Both results went the right way and they will be taking on new opposition in Division 4 next season.
Team manager Dave Chick says, “it has been a pleasure to be associated with such a dedicated team and see such comradory between players, their promotion has been well earned”
