the constitution

  1. The Associtation
    The Association shall be called the Devon Schools Badminton Association. (DSBA)
  2. Affilitation
    The Association shall be affiliated to:
    1. Badminton England
    2. The Devon County Badminton Association (D.C.B.A.)
    3. The English Schools Badminton Association (E.S.B.A.)
    4. Other Associations as may be necessary for D.S.B.A. to go about their business.
  3. Aim
    The aim of the D.S.B.A. is to encourage and promote school children to participate in Badminton, including Inter - County competitions, and to aid the development of the sport within Devon schools.
  4. Membership
    Membership shall be open to all Schools, Sports Centres, Junior Clubs and Individuals within the County of Devon. Those who affiliate must do so annually.
  5. Affiliation Fee
    An Affiliation Fee, the amount of which shall be determined by the Committee shall be payable each year.
  6. The Committee
    The management of D.S.B.A. affairs shall be determined by the committee. The committee shall consist of:

    The Chairperson Elected annually at the A.G.M.
    Hon. Secretary Elected annually at the A.G.M.
    Hon. Treasurer Elected annually at the A.G.M.
    Vice Chairperson Elected annually at the A.G.M.

    Coaching Co-ordinators
    2x U13 Coaches Elected annually at the A.G.M.
    2x U15 Coaches Elected annually at the A.G.M.
    2x U17 Coaches Elected annually at the A.G.M.

    U13 Parent Rep. Elected annually by parents of each squad
    U15 Parent Rep. Elected annually by parents of each squad
    U17 Parent Rep. Elected annually by parents of each squad

    One voting committee member as nominated by the D.C.B.A. Other members may be co-opted by the Committee as required to assist with the management of the Association's affairs.

  7. Coaches
    Coaches shall not be executive members of the Association.
  8. Quorum
    The Committee shall be deemed to be assembled when one of the Officers and not less than four members (which must include one representative from each squad) are present.
  9. Annual General Meeting (A.G.M)
    The A.G.M. shall be held no later than the last day of May prior to the commencement of the new season. The Hon. Secretary shall give notice of the time and venue of the A.G.M. no later than 28 days prior to the meeting. Items for inclusion on the Agenda should be forwarded to the Secretary no later than 14 days prior to the meeting. This includes nominations for the committee and proposals to amend the Constitution and Rules. The Agenda will be published and forwarded to all voting members no later than 7 days before the date of the A.G.M.
  10. Extra Ordinary General Meetings
    Such meetings can be called for at any time by no less than seven people, (who must be either full Committee members, a nominated representative of an affiliated school or organisation), submitting 28 days notice to the Hon. secretary.
  11. Voting
    Voting will only take place on items that appear on the Agenda. Where matters are decided by ballot, all families of squad players present will be entitled to vote (but only one vote per family). Where committee members are also related to squad members only 1 vote per family is permitted, also one nominated representative from each affiliated school or organisation. The Chairperson will not be called upon to vote unless a casting vote is required. Voting on items which appear on the Agenda shall be deemed to be carried if a majority of those present are in favour except where issues of great importance to the Association are being voted on, the chairperson of the meeting shall be empowered to request that a majority of two thirds or more of the members present and entitled to vote be required for the motion to be accepted. The Chairperson must state that this rule is to be used to the vote and must have the prior consent of three or more full committee members.
